WORLD NEWS DAILY CEO CALLS FOR SECESSION OVER GAY MARRIAGE
http://www.wnd.com/2015/06/does-same-sex-marriage-warrant-secession/
I can't say that secession has become mainstream in conservative politics, since among conservatives WND is seen as being crazy, but WND does have some following and it shows the creeping acceptance of secession into conservative politics.
There are left-wing secessionists also. When a person calls for secession I don't think they can at the same time claim to be patriotic.
A blog for the Lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender communities about neo-Confederate homophobia. Homophobia and neo-Confederacy overlap and intersect much more than is realized.

Kirkpatrick Sales, secessionist has anti-LGBT editorial.
KIRKPATRICK SALE ANTI-GAY EDITORIAL
Kirkpatrick Sale, secessionist who works with the neo-Confederates, had an anti-gay editorial published in the "Charleston Post-Courier."
http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20150411/PC1002/150419858
Incidentally if you are wondering why gay rights have gained such wide support even though gays are about 3% of the population the answer is simple.
One of the primary and core ideas of the gay liberation movement was to get gays and Lesbians to be out of the closet. A slogan at gay marches was "Out of the Closet and Into the Streets."
As a result Gay people have parents, siblings, relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors, associates, who know that they are gay and they usually want to see that gay people are treated fairly. When you consider all these people as a percentage of the population is is substantial.
Also, a lot of people who don't know any gays don't see the value in being a bigoted jerk.
Kirkpatrick's article is particularly crazed.

League of the South holds rally in Richmond against Same-sex marriage
The League of the South, a neo-Confederate organization held a rally against same-sex marriage. The following is a link to a news story on the protest.
http://www.wric.com/story/25172430/league-of-the-south-rallies-against-same-sex-marriage-lgbtq-group-responds
There are a lot of silly gay and Lesbian people in the South who mentally have never left the plantation and love the movie "Gone With The Wind," and basically have bought into the Lost Cause understanding of the Civil War. With this protest by the League of the South the LGBT community will see what the Lost Cause is about. Those who continue to cling to the Lost Cause will be seen as ridiculous and undermining the well being of the gay community.

Sons of Confederate Veterans hysterically upset over gay rights
The Sons of Confederate Veterans is hysterically upset over gay rights.
Go to this link:
http://www.scv.org/pdf/chaplains/ChaplainsChronicleJul13.pdf
and search the pdf for Sodom.
From an article in the newsletter:
In 1996 Robert H. Bork wrote a book entitled Slouching Towards Gomorrah: Modern Liberalism and American Decline. This volume dealt with the decline of the American culture and how the nation is in some serious moral trouble with the foundations thereof crumbling. In one of the concluding paragraphs the honorable Bork confesses, “It is pointless to ask, ‘What is the solution?’ There is no single grand strategy…. Religion must be recaptured church by church; and education, university by university, school board by school board. Bureaucracies must be tamed.” Now we have become Gomorrah’s cesspool. 2013 has brought a torrent of events sweeping the country into the clutches of those who have made the country into a mirror image of Sodom and Gomorrah. Now who is going to write Becoming Gomorrah: America Embraces the Perversions of Sodom and Gomorrah? Perhaps one needs to read Genesis 18 and 19.
Is your soul vexed over the events occurring around you and especially the direction this nation has now taken as she has become a modern form of Sodom and Gomorrah? The word “vexed” means a soul tormented or extremely troubled. Was your soul vexed over the latest Supreme Court ruling or the Boy Scout vote to include homosexuals? If you said yes my soul is vexed! You have something in common with Abraham’s nephew Lot for that was his case in Sodom. The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is really about hysteria like this. Actually this is one of the tamer sections of the essay.
As you might imagine SCV members don't listen to Lady Gaga or Madonna.

I don't have any commentary, but I thought it was something to which this blog should post a link.

Gay.com offers donations to the Sons of Confederate Veterans
If you go to http://scv.we-care.com/Merchants/Gay.com you will see that Gay.com offers a donation of 30% of fees for upgrades and services subscribed to the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). Now I don't know that there are many members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans would actually want these services.
If you go to the link you will see the following purpose of the SCV:
Though it is unlikely that Gay.com will ever actually give any donation to the SCV, their offer legitimizes the SCV.
Gays
If you go to the link you will see the following purpose of the SCV:
Your purchase through this site helps Sons of Confederate Veterans preserve the history and legacy of the heroes who fought for the Confederacy so that future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause. The SCV calls gays "sodomites." The following is a section from a forth coming dossier on the SCV.
Though it is unlikely that Gay.com will ever actually give any donation to the SCV, their offer legitimizes the SCV.
Gays
SCV
chaplains in the SCV Chaplain Corps used the terms sodomites and sodomy in referring to
and condemning gays. H. Rondel Rumburg, past Chaplain-in-Chief of the SCV, in
the March 2007 issue of the Chaplain’s
Corps Chronicles of the Sons of Confederate Veterans condemns those who
would support historical apologies by the State of Virginia for past wrongs
stating that “these same people need to confess their own offenses to God and
to the people they have mislead,” among the things Rumburg considers offenses, is that of
being, “guilty of protecting sodomites, thus spreading AIDS.”[i]
In another article in Sept. 2009 issue of the Chaplain’s Corp Chronicles Rumburg laments that after the Civil War
“Deconstructionists” worked to bring humanism to the South which he claims has
had disastrous results, among other things such as “an enthroning of sodomy as
a preferred lifestyle.”[ii]
Former
Chaplain-in-Chief Alister C. Anderson gave the Invocation delivered at the
Confederate Evangelistic Sesquicentennial Service on February 25, 2012 which
was reprinted in the April 2012 issue of the Chaplain’s Corp Chronicles in which he asserts about “Southern
ancestors” that they “manly men who preached about ‘tough love’ and who would
not condone the ministry and preaching of non-Biblical, cheesy, whinny,
quiche-eating, effete, effeminate pastors who were afraid of their own shadow,”
which presumably is a criticism of contemporary pastors.
Further
Anderson worries, “O Lord Jesus Christ, could the radical, despotic, contempt
for women, Jihadist Muslim critique of our supposedly Judeo-Christian
civilization be true?,” and “O Lord, are we a narcissistic, selfish,
self-centered, spectator-oriented, voyeuristic pornographic culture that is
possessed with the desire for elicit [sic] sexual activity, fornication, and
sodomy?”[iii]
In
the Sept./Oct. 2009 Confederate Veteran
Chaplain-in-Chief Cecil A. Fayard, Jr., in the Chaplain’s Comments section
asserts that America is in trouble.
Fayard says is that America has become immoral, "We have sown
immorality," he writes and "We live in a very loose society, a wicked
nation morally. All types of unspeakable and deplorable acts are being
committed by deviant men and women." Fayard also states as a sign that
America is in trouble that “One school curriculum in America teaches acceptance
of homosexuality in the first grade…”[iv]
The
SCV is an organization that is entirely hostile to any rights to gays and
Lesbians and if they could somehow implement their moral vision on the United
States would entirely crush these communities.

Abbeville Institute and gay marriage
You can find the newsletter referenced in this text at www.abbevilleinstitute.org. This is an institute with extensive participation by professors and college students.
The
Abbeville Institute claims that it isn’t a racist organization.[i]
However, its real views can be inferred fairly clearly from its web page and
publications that of opposition to civil rights, racial equality and its
support for a neo-Confederate interpretation of American history. From an
Abbeville newsletter about their 2011 Summer School, there is a condemnation of
civil rights legislation, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and egalitarianism:
In “Perpetual War for
Perpetual Union: Kendall and Bradford on Lincoln’s Imperial Rhetoric,” Daniel
argues that Lincoln’s rhetoric at Gettysburg was not for defense or honor but
for an ideological war to establish a “new birth of freedom.” Instead of
viewing America as a federation of States enjoying a rule of law for conducting
their business, Lincoln came to think of America in the manner of the French
Revolution, namely as a unitary state dedicated to shaping society into the
mold of abstract principles of liberty and equality. McCarthy observes that
since these principles are absolute, abstract, and indeterminate in content,
there is no non-arbitrary way to know what they mean or how to satisfy them.
Every claim that equality has been achieved can be met with the counter claim
that it has yet to be fully realized. So equality before the law, must give way
to equality of opportunity, and that to equality in quotas for marginalized
groups, that to equality of outcome. Traditional laws regarding marriage are
offenses against equality because same sex couples are excluded, and so forth.
With each ratcheting up of the abstract ideal of equality, more power is
necessarily concentrated in the central government which diminishes the liberty
of individuals and the corporate liberty of the States to protect a valuable
way of life binding together generations. Moreover, since the idea of equality
is abstract, it applies to all human beings, not just Americans, and this
provides a justification for centralizing even more power and projecting that
power abroad in an effort to achieve, in the words of George W. Bush, a “global
democratic revolution.”[ii]
